Los Angeles | Private Tour of Christina Kimeze "Long loops" at Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood

July, 2025
Los Angeles, California

Frieze Connect members are invited to an intimate after-hours tour of Christina Kimeze: Long loops at Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood, the British artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery.

Known for her richly textured works on suede matboard, Kimeze explores liminal spaces between the internal and external world. Through ethereal landscapes, abstracted architecture, and veiled figures, her dreamlike compositions evoke both grounding and flight. With recurring motifs such as spiral staircases and roller skaters, Long loops considers identity, motion, and the poetic loops that shape a life.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the writings of Thom Gunn and Lucille Clifton, whose imagery of continuous movement and personal transformation echoes in Kimeze’s tactile, hybrid use of chalk, pastel, and oil paint. At once intimate and expansive, her work invites reflection on the unseen forces that shape how we see and are seen.
